# Create and edit discounts with Sidekick

Ask Shopify's Sidekick to set up or change a OneCode discount for you, then review it and save.

**In short:** Ask Sidekick in your Shopify admin to use OneCode: Stackable Discounts to create or edit a discount. It opens the OneCode discount page and fills in the form for you. Check it, then click **Save**. Nothing goes live until you save.

## Create a discount

1.  Open Sidekick in your Shopify admin.
    
2.  Start with "Use OneCode to…" and describe the deal. For example: "Use OneCode to create a discount SUMMER: 10% off orders over $50, 20% off over $100, and free shipping when either applies."
    
3.  Sidekick opens the OneCode create page and fills in the code, discount types and conditions. If it asks which kind of discount to create, pick OneCode.
    
4.  Check the form. Change anything you like, or ask Sidekick to change it.
    
5.  Click **Save**.
    

## Edit a discount

Ask Sidekick to change an existing OneCode discount, for example: "Raise the top tier of my SUMMER discount to 25%." It opens that discount's edit page and makes the change. Check it, then click **Save**.

## Things to ask for

Sidekick can set up anything in the [Recipes](https://jxngqfpxd.us.gleap.help/en/articles/26.md) collection. Some examples, each starting with "Use OneCode to create":

-   "20% off the Summer collection and 10% off Accessories."
    
-   "Buy 2 socks get 10% off, 3 get 15%, 4 or more get 20%."
    
-   "Buy one get one free on the Socks collection."
    
-   "Free shipping over $75, only in the US."
    
-   "15% off and free shipping for customers tagged VIP."
    
-   "10% off Accessories, plus half-price Express shipping when they buy accessories."
    

Name products and collections as they appear in your store, and say whether you want a code or an automatic discount.

## Good to know

-   Always name OneCode. Without it, Sidekick may try to create the discount itself and stop with a message like "App discounts are created from their app". If that happens, start a new Sidekick conversation and begin with "Use OneCode to…".
    
-   Sidekick only fills in the form. The discount is created or changed when you click **Save**, and goes live then unless you set a later start date.
    
-   Set these yourself in the form: [bulk codes](https://jxngqfpxd.us.gleap.help/en/articles/23.md), subscription recurring cycles, discount tags and, on Shopify Plus, **Multiple per product** stacking.
    
-   Sidekick builds the same discounts as the editor. For trickier offers, such as everything except one collection, see [Advanced setups](https://jxngqfpxd.us.gleap.help/en/articles/39.md).
    
-   This works in Shopify admin in a web browser. The Shopify mobile app doesn't open OneCode discounts yet.
